The Fort Fisher Hermit was selected to premiere at the 2004 Cucalorus Film Festival and played to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic audience of approximately 200.
Real to Reel Film Festival

Success at the Cucalorus Film Festival led to organizers of the 2004 Reel to Reel Documentary Film Festival to ask that the film be included in their festival lineup. Shelby was the boyhood home of Robert E. Harrill and this created additional interest in the film.
The Ashville Film Festival
Ashville, North Carolina

The Fort Fisher Hermit was selected to play at the Ashville Film Festival in November of 2004. This festival is fast-growing in popularity and is attended regularly by distribution executives from Los Angeles and New York seeking titles for theatrical distribution and television broadcast.
The Hollywood Digital Film Festival
Hollywood, California

The Fort Fisher Hermit won the Best Documentary Feature award at this festival sponsored by the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, California during the weekend of December 10-12, 2004. All entries and selections were produced in the Mini-DV format and Hollywood-based film and television executives attend the festival
